Nutrition of Steve Cook: Healthy Prots, Carbs, and Fats
Proper nutrition is an integral part of the training regimen and a healthy lifestyle. Consuming protein, complex carbohydrates, veggies and healthy high-fat foods, you supply your body and mind with the necessary nutrients.
- Protein. Steve’s diet is rich in proteins; it does not contain many carbohydrates. Proteins repair and build body tissues, including muscle ones. The protein contains the basic “adobes” known as amino acids. Our body synthesizes all of them, except for nine ones, therefore these aminos are called essential. To maintain muscle growth, Steve consumes about 2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. The main sources of protein for Steve are chicken, beef, and turkey.
- Carbohydrates. Three Steve’s meals out of six contain carbohydrates, such as potatoes and rice. Steve recommends consuming 30% carbohydrate from the daily norm 2-3 hours before training.
